A Sheffield plate helmet style cream jug circa 1780-1800. This 5" high genuine cream pitcher predates electroplating and it consists of thin layers of silver laid on to copper sheets; the sandwich of metals is then formed into the desired object. This unsigned creamer is in good original condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, damage or repairs; it has the expected areas of copper blush from polishing over the last couple of centuries. Re-plating these period pieces tends to devalue them from a Sheffield plate collection point of view. A genuine late 17th to mid 18th century hand made openwork European grade sterling pierced strainer or ladle with a gilded bowl. This unusual 8" ladle has a gilt and pierced 2-3/8" x 2" bowl with a pouring lip, and would be a slightly higher than 800 grade silver. The openwork handle has wonderfully ornate hand made wire-work with two central medallions, which have never been engraved/monogrammed. The handle is completely hand made and it is applied to the bowl with a rat-tail. It has two hallmarks on the back of the handle, the clearest of the two is a round punch with an animal figure that appears to be a standing bear with an I to the right (the stamp was slightly larger than the handle, so the animal head is missing). This appears to be a mark used in Berlin (Germany) in the 17th and 18th century. The other mark is a simple S or snake mark, and we have not traced this mark/maker. The style, workmanship, patina and appearance of the piece is consistent with German and Austrian silver being manufactured in this period, so the mark is consistent with the visible age of the piece (late 17th to mid 18th century). We haven't run across this exact utensil before, so are unsure which particular food or drink it was used to strain - it could be a variant of a fruit punch or mead or wine strainer or skimmer. It is in really exceptionally fine condition with no monograms, repairs or damage. The end of the filigree work nearest the bowl is not soldered, but this may be an aspect of design rather than a break in the silver that may have occurred. A large and heavy 8-1/2" Georgian Dublin sterling silver dinner fork, hallmarked for 1829. This heavy fork has an attractive double dolphin crest on the back of the handle and has the maker's mark for Matthew West and Peter Moore. Antique Irish silver is far scarcer than English, and this fork is a great find. This item is in excellent condition, with no dents, bends, monograms, wear, scratches, corrosion, repairs or damage other than some very light scoring on the extreme bottom ends of the tines from use. An early to mid 19th century turned yew (or fruit) wood covered gaming cup with 9 hand carved and painted bone die c1820-50. The box retains some of its original red stain and it measures 2-1/8" tall and 1-1/4" across the top. The dice are also 19th century vintage, and measure 3/8" (largest), 5/16" (medium) and the remaining seven are 1/4" across. They weigh 34.5 grams. There is a heraldic crest of an English Ducal coronet with a lion rampant holding a circular object. A superb and very heavy quality silver plated fruit bowl with high relief designs and scrolling c1890, made by E.G. Webster & Son of Brooklyn, New York. This bowl measures 12-3/4 x 10" and it weighs an impressive 1 lb. 14-1/2 ounces. It has the crown, lion and Prince of Wales feathers marks and a 154 pattern. This mark is sometimes erroneously ascribed to the sterling silver wares of Webster (Rainwater) but it is plated. It appears to have been re-plated in the past and the finish is shiny with no losses (replater's mark near factory mark). A matching set of three Daisy and Button pattern early American pattern or pressed glass (EAPG) cruets consisting of a 3" salt and a 3" pepper shaker plus a 3-3/4" hinged-lid mustard pot. The colours include yellow, amber and ice blue and all pieces retain their original metal lids. A mother of pearl rgp telescoping lorgnette handle from the 1890s. This eyeglasses extending handle is made of ornate rolled gold plate and hand carved mother of pearl panels with nice colour flash. It measures 5-1/4" when closed and 9-3/8" when opened. The top is 5/8" across, the extension has a fine checkerboard pattern, and the retaining inserts for the eyeglass frame are made of tortoiseshell. A scarce and early red and white transfer large 10-1/2" rim soup bowl c1830s, in the Tadmor In The Desert pattern. A late Victorian c1890-1900 moulded 5-1/2" milk glass vase with a high relief scene of a Dutch mother and child at the seashore or lake. The child carries a small sailboat and this unsigned vase has blue sprayed on colour.
