This matched set of six has a repeating thumbprint and honeycomb design pattern, divided by two cut lines. Each measures 4-3/8" across and stands 2-1/2" high. A scarce Gorham sterling child's or youth set, consisting of a 6-3/8" fork and 7-3/8" solid handle knife in the Gorham Louis XIV sterling pattern, first issued by Gorham in 1870. This early Gorham set was purchased as a gift and keepsake for the birth of a child, and these accessories are very sought after. This set is in very good condition, with no dents, bends, corrosion, repairs or damage other than a bit of rounding and teethmarks to the tines and a bit of scratching to the silver knife blade. Each piece has a shallowly engraved Bessie monogram. It is stamped PATENT 1871 STERLING with the Gorham hallmarks. Surface shipping is $6 (to the US - other spots may vary) - insured is higher.
