An attractive vintage sterling silver Art Nouveau period brooch, of a beautiful woman with flowing hair c1900. It is the typical three dimensional hollow design with a flat closed back and is guaranteed to be a vintage piece. It is stamped Sterling. It measures 1 11/16" x 15/16" and it is in excellent and original condition with the original c-clasp - no damage, repairs or replacements, but there is a slight bend in the pin. A deeply carved, high relief antique Chinese hand carved ivory broach set in a high grade silver (tests as sterling grade or better) setting. It most likely dates to the 18th to early 19th century. The scene shows six figures, one seated away in the building, and the others sitting and standing around one carrying a large covered bowl - just about to partake of a meal or see a treasure revealed. There is a lovely flowering tree in the scene also. It measures 1 9/16" x 1 1/4", and is 3/8" deep. The silver setting is bezel set around the back of the ivory. It is in excellent and original condition,with no damage or repairs (there is a little surface grime, visible in the picture) and it has its original c clasp. A large and striking 19th century carnelian agate set in a classic 9k yellow gold barley twist setting c1860-80. It measures 2 5/8" x 2", and has a safety catch, which would have been added later. The gold setting is heavy and well made, and all of the claws and rope work are in perfect shape. The stone is a really attractive slab of carnelian agate, it is 1/4" thick. It has a bevelled edge and is highly polished. It is in excellent and original condition, but I must note that the stone (which was clearly picked for its unusual appearance) has a tiny naturally occuring gap near the edge (about the size of a pin top) and there is a fissure in the stone - again naturally occuring and not detrimental - which looks like a crack, but isn't. It doesn't go through the stone at all points and will not affect the integrity of the piece, but we like to mention all details, and it is visible in the picture. A most attractive vintage sterling silver Art Nouveau period brooch c1900. A flowing haired fin-du-siecle beauty, staring wistfully off, with a large poppy (a symbol of forgetfulness) beside her. It is a large brooch, measuring 2-7/16" x 2-1/4". Sterling front and back, and it is very slightly curved, as they sometimes were, to sit better on the body. It is stamped Sterling only, but is clearly a fine quality example. Original nickle pin and c-clasp, and excellent condition - no damage or repairs. A lovely example of Art Nouveau period jewellery, and guaranteed to be an original period brooch. A dazzling vintage ultra-modern enamel studio bracelet c1960. It is unsigned, but the few bracelets I have had of this type were almost always from Germany, so I would estimate this to be a German studio piece (these studio pieces often had paper labels, which could easily fall off). It is enamelled on both the front & back, and was enamelled on copper. The connecting loops are silver coloured metal. The back is a deep metallic blue and the front enamel is a striking combination of clear & opaque turquoise and blue enamel, with the pale pink copper colour in the background. It measures 7 1/2" in length and 1 1/2" at the widest. It is in fine condition except for some minute edge chips to the enamel (small enough not to detract) and some delicate stress lines, visible upon close inspection. A pretty late Victorian period 14k yellow gold & diamond brooch c1895. The free and graceful open whirling design of this piece shows the transition from stylized Victorian to the more flowing Art Nouveau influence. It measures 1" across, and in the centre is a claw set clear white genuine European antique cut diamond, measuring 3.5 mm. across (20 pts) - it is is VS2 diamond of I-J colour. It has the original gate latch safety clasp, where it is stamped 14k. It is in very good condition, with all of the claw work in excellent condition, and the diamond in excellent condition also, but please note there appears to be an old professional repair visible only on the back of the brooch.
