A large and striking 19th century carnelian agate set in a classic 9k yellow gold barley twist setting c1860-80. It measures 2 5/8" x 2", and has a safety catch, which would have been added later. The gold setting is heavy and well made, and all of the claws and rope work are in perfect shape. The stone is a really attractive slab of carnelian agate, it is 1/4" thick. It has a bevelled edge and is highly polished. It is in excellent and original condition, but I must note that the stone (which was clearly picked for its unusual appearance) has a tiny naturally occuring gap near the edge (about the size of a pin top) and there is a fissure in the stone - again naturally occuring and not detrimental - which looks like a crack, but isn't. It doesn't go through the stone at all points and will not affect the integrity of the piece, but we like to mention all details, and it is visible in the picture. Trackable surface shipping starts at $12.50 (to the US - other spots may vary) - insured is higher. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US. Please note that we do NOT accept Paypal.
