A 9k gold vintage retro period synthetic or simulated Alexandrite ring c1940s. This size 7 ring is 9k yellow gold and it has a round facetted claw-set synthetic Alexandrite stone. These simulated alexandrites are usually corundum laced with vanadium to produce the color change under different types of lighting, or a treated colourless chrysoberyl. This created gemstone has been around for almost 100 years, and the stones usually test as corundums on a gem tester (natural genuine alexandrites are expensive and uncommon, most of what you will see for sale is the simulated version). The 3/8" across facetted and claw-set stone is flanked by two white sapphires on each side and this ring is a size 6-1/4.
