| A superb late Victorian transitional period blue glass powder jar with fine free hand painted white enamelling and goldwork, set with gilded metal mounts c1890-1900. This jar probably originated in Austria / Czechoslovakia, and measures 4" across and it stands 3-1/4" high. The glass is hand blown and it has a slightly satiny feel and a slightly lustrous finish. The enamelling is nicely executed, and the decoration overall shows the transitional period influence of late Victorian to the simpler flowing naturalistic designs of the Art Nouveau style. It is an attractive shade of deep aquamarine blue. This jar is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, losses, repairs or damage. It would make a fine jewellery box.
