| A superb late Victorian period tortoiseshell celluloid hair backcomb with an opulent paste laden wings set into a rolled gold plated setting c1890. This lovely hair accessory measures 5-1/8" x 2-3/4", and the white paste claw-set stones are mounted on a gold plated wing shaped back plate. The paste stones are all claw set and mounted into a twist wirework superstructure. The backing plate is a rolled rose gold sheet pin mounted into the comb. It is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some minute tarnish/corrosion spots near the edge of the plate (not particularly noticeable). All teeth of the comb are intact. Surface shipping is $6 (to the US - other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card.
