English STERLING SERVING SPOONS c1840
A pair of English sterling silver serving or table spoons, hallmarked London 1840 by George Adams. Measuring 8 3/4" in length they are a simple variation on the traditional Old English style, having a slightly wavy shape. There are no initials or engraving on the front of the spoon, but there is an engraved griffon on the back (keeping in mind spoons were generally set with the bowl facing down, especially in Europe). The are quite heavy and well made. They are in very good condition, showing the expected minor wear scratched on the bowl, but please note there is some slight denting on the one side of both spoons, as though they had been gently but repeatedly tapped, and some shallow dents from use. This can be made smooth and polished again easily, though that would affect the original patina. It does not affect the use of the spoons, or even the appearance until you closely inspect them. Surface shipping is $8 (to the US - other spots may vary) - insured is higher. We do ship internationally.
