A 9k gold synthetic or lab-created Alexandrite ring circa 1940s. This vintage size 7 retro ring is yellow gold and it has a round facetted claw-set created solitaire Alexandrite stone. This ring weighs 5.6 grams, it measures 3/4" at the widest and 1/2" across the stone. The stone measures 12 mm across and is approximately 7mm deep (measured in setting), so is approximately 7.25 carats in size. It is marked 9CT and has a maker's mark of CJM. No year mark, possibly removal due to a ring sizing. These simulated alexandrites are usually corundum laced with vanadium to produce the color change under different types of lighting, or a treated colourless chrysoberyl. This created gemstone has been around for almost 100 years, and the stones usually test as corundums or sapphires on a gem tester (natural genuine alexandrites are expensive and uncommon, most of what you will see for sale is the simulated version). This stone color variation is primarily purple-to-blue. It is in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. There is some surface grime visible, item was photographed before cleaning. All condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have signs of use and patina as would be expected. Expedited tracked shipping to the U.S. starts at $21 (other spots may vary) - insurance and tracking are included in shipping quotes, which vary by destination. A scarce 4-1/4" vintage late 1930s-mid 1940s Mary Grayo stoppered glass fur perfume bottle with the original label. This company was in business in Monte Carlo for a very short time, from the late 1930s to the mid-1940s. The label has losses but the Mary Grayo name is mostly quite legible; the bottle is molded with a 45 on the bottom. It has remnants of the original perfume, which must have smelled wonderful in its day. Mary Grayo perfumes seem in most cases to be designed to be worn when wearing a fur coat, to prevent the natural scent of fur coats from being obvious - many of the perfumes they produced refer to specific types of fur (silver fox, beaver, etc.). This is the first Mary Grayo perfume bottle we have owned, previously only have seen the company advertising. This bottle is in fair condition with no chips, cracks, damage or repairs other than the losses, split and fading to the label and the loss of the dabbing rod on the stopper. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Expedited tracked insured shipping to the U.S. starts at $20 (other spots may vary, air is higher) - tracking and insurance are included in shipping quotes.
