All Items : Antiques : Decorative Art : Ceramics : English : Pre 1910 item #1291539 (stock #02501)
A superb pair of true Arts and Crafts stoneware pottery matched ewers in a rich chocolate brown colour, c1880-1900. The upper shoulders or these 7-5/8" ewers or pitchers are in a glossy glaze, and the lower body has a naturalistic matte glaze over a stippled style textured surface topped with a decorative linked band of semicircles. The glaze didn't quite flow to cover the interiors of the hand made spouts and the bottoms are unglazed. They are unsigned, but look and feel like English stoneware - fairly similar in appearance and feel to the Doulton art stoneware, or Lovett's. Their elegant straight angle handles have a look of pieces designed by Christopher Dresser, and these unsigned ewers would look great with any Arts & Crafts or modern decor. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Expedited tracked and insured parcel shipping to the U.S. starts at $24 (other spots may vary, air is higher). Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. A lovely Arts and Crafts period 830 silver high relief rose Skønvirke brooch circa 1900. This antique 2-1/8" x 1-5/8" pin has a long c-clasp and it is marked simply 830. It is quite likely this piece is Scandinavian, it is entirely consistent with early Skønvirke ("beautiful work") made popular by fine Scandinavian silver makers. It greatly resembles early Bernard Hertz work, but is not signed, other than the 830 silver mark. It is typically repousse with a solid flat back, for stability, and it weighs 15.6 grams. A great addition to any floral or roses or Skønvirke jewellery collection. A unique rose fancier gift idea - the appeal of this Edwardian period beauty is timeless. It is in excellent original condition with no scrapes, dents, monograms, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. It has been very lightly hand polished, retaining the original patina. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use as would be expected. Silver and silver plated items are hand-polished, not buffed, and our halogens and magnified images may exaggerate otherwise barely noticeable scratches and flaws. An attractive blue & white dinner plate by Royal Worcester (England). It is covered with Oriental motifs, which was quite popular in English china in the 1870s. It is date stamped for 1876 and measures 10 3/8" across. It is in excellent overall condition, but does show signs of use - there are cut marks on the plate, and the glaze shows darker/brownish at the edges where the glaze appears to have been more thinly applied. However, these details are minor, and it shows well and is completely useable if you wish. Surface shipping starts at $16 (to the US - other spots may vary) - insurance for loss is included.
