A 19thC Davis Bros. sterling silver napkin ring. This 1-7/8" diameter and 1-1/4" wide late 19th century sterling silver napkin ring is stamped DAVIS BROS. and STERLING. There are a number of American silversmiths/firms with the name Davis, also a Toronto manufacturing firm of that name. It could possibly also refer to a retailer. It has a script AC(?) monogram, it weighs a substantial 40 grams, and it is in excellent vintage condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. An enamel 800 silver enamel snuffbox or snuff box depicting the German resort city of Bad Ems. It measures 1-15/16" x 1-3/8". The lid is slightly convex and it is just under 5/8" deep/tall. The top of the hinged oval box features a completely hand enameled aerial scenic view of the city. It takes a enamelist of some training and skill, as not only must they be able to depict the view properly in enamel, but know how the enamel reacts when it is fired, as the colors change. The enamel is fine quality, and was done by hand. It is stamped either KFK or KEK, and 800. I have seen that mark on a few enamel souvenir spoons and a ring, I believe it dates to possibly around 1900 to 1920. It weighs 26.7 grams, the interior is gilded, and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. It is stamped with the Howard Sterling Co. mark (Providence, Rhode Island 1878-1902) and the BARTENS & RICE retailer's mark (1875-1909). A Gorham sterling silver miniature chamber stick or candle holder dated 1891. This Victorian era ornate chamberstick stands 1-5/8" high and it measures 3-3/8" across the base. It is stamped with the lion/anchor/G mark, along with STERLING 181 and the year cypher for 1891. Although a dainty size, these small candle holders sat on a writing deak or in a travel writing desk, as they had the practical use of melting sealing wax for an envelope or document. A simple 7" pre-Victorian English pewter sauce ladle by John Yates, Birmingham. Yates (1788-1881) produced spoons and ladles from c1808 to c1840, and this example has his early IO HN YHA TES stamp. A Moritz Elimeyer 900 silver brandy pan or measure, probably dating to the late 19th century. This elegant antique silver piece has a twist decoration and interior gilding. It is 5-1/4" in length with the bowl measuring 2-5/8 across the rim with a depth of 1-1/4". It has the company and German post 1886 silver marks of ELIMEYER 900 with an S with crossed hammers Dresden maker's mark and the German post 1886 silver moon and crown. It holds approximately 2 - 2-1/2 ounces, and was used to add a little warming brandy to alleviate the chill in cold weather. It also has a crowned CL crest/monogram on the handle which appears to be a legacy mark from the 16th century House of Hanover royal monogram of Christian Louis, Duke of Brunswick-Luneburg (this item was possibly owned by a descendant). This is the same House of Hanover related to the current British royal family from the reign of George I, who was the reigning Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg when he became the king of England is 1720. A 19thC Royal Copenhagen white bisque porcelain plaque with cherubs circa 1860 1880. This antique Danish 6" x 4-7/8" wall has a detailed scen of cheubic figures helping to gather and crush grapes. It is marked ENERET EB on the back with the three blue lines Copenhagen mark. A Japanese Moriage green footed & handled porcelain vase circa 1880 with roses. This finely decorated pale green 4-1/2" high vase has a crimped neck, two handles, and three feet, and it features hand painted roses and leaves on a green ground. A Queensland Bulldog Club award sterling silver cream & sugar 1916. This sterling silver creamer and sugar was given as an award for the Queensland Bulldog Club Championship of 1916. This is fully hallmarked for Sheffield England 1915-16. It consists of the 5" from handle to handle open sugar bowl and the matching creamer. Each piece retains their original interior gilding and they both have the Chester mark for 1915; the sugar bowl has the maker's mark for Joseph and Richard Griffin (est. 1915-16). This set was obtained from an Australian who brought it to Canada, and we are fairly sure that Q.B.C. refers to the Queensland Bulldog Club, a dog club founded in 1915. This set weighs 94.0 grams and it is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs.
