A late Victorian/Edwardian opalescent and black glass necklace c1900. This 17" strung necklace consists of oval opalescent glass beads with orange fire strung with round black glass beads and clear glass spacer beads. The black beads have an unusual metallic finish, and all beads are hand blown. It has been restrung (some time ago) and it has a silver plated springring catch (minor losses to plating). A nice mid-Victorian early thermoplastic or vulcanite cameo brooch c1860-70. Made of the same medium brown thermoplastic used in the era for items such as photograph cases (and sometimes mis-described as gutta percha, and also known by the trade name of Vulcanite), this 1-7/8" x 1-1/2" brooch has fine detail, and it depicts a cameo of very high definition (she sits a full 3/8" above the surface platform). She is a classical period Greek beauty with her eyes closed and a look of rapture on her face - she looks like Penelope from the classic Greek epic myth. The platform surface is surrounded by a twisted rope border. A mid-Victorian 2-1/4 x 1-7/8" reverse painted Essex crystal brooch c1850s-60s. This pin features a rolled gold plated setting with the original long c-clasp and pin. The reverse carved and hand painted flowers have silver paint (with some oxidation on a few of the flowers) and the crystal is bevelled. This item is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs, however there is a small 3/8" segment of the bezel metal missing along one edge. There is an internal glass flaw which appears as a line across the crystal, but this can't be felt on the top of the crystal or seen on the painted underside and it is not a crack. It is barely visible under natural or room lights, however it shows up under our halogens (see picture). An 18k diamonds and cornflower sapphires row ring circa 1890. This Victorian period size 6 ring is 18k yellow gold, with genuine natural sapphires and antique sut diamonds. It measures 3/4" x 3/16" across the setting, the two diamonds measure approximately 10 points each by gauge, and the cornflower blue sapphires measure approximately 6 points each (side) and 12 points (central). A 14k yellow gold asteroid pearl and diamond stickpin or tie or cravat pin circa 1890. This 2-1/4" long pin has a 5/8" x 1/4" top with a claw-set natural 3 mm. pearl and a claw-set genuine round antique cut diamond. This pin shows both the fascination at the time with the solar system, many stickpins had moon, stars and planets at the time, and the shooting star had romantic connotations as well, which made it a suitable sweetheart or engagement gift.
