A mid-Victorian 2-1/4 x 1-7/8" reverse painted Essex crystal brooch c1850s-60s. This pin features a rolled gold plated setting with the original long c-clasp and pin. The reverse carved and hand painted flowers have silver paint (with some oxidation on a few of the flowers) and the crystal is bevelled. This item is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs, however there is a small 3/8" segment of the bezel metal missing along one edge. There is an internal glass flaw which appears as a line across the crystal, but this can't be felt on the top of the crystal or seen on the painted underside and it is not a crack. It is barely visible under natural or room lights, however it shows up under our halogens (see picture).
