All Items : Popular Collectibles : Specialty : Tobacco : Pre 1900 item #1311657 (stock #02527)
A true antique Victorian hand carved waxed meerschaum clay pipe in the form of a cuffed hand holding a bowl. This 4-5/8" smoking accessory features the original pressed amber mouthpiece, the silver plated brass ferrule and the ornately carved cuffed hand and bowl. This example has the warm brown colour found on waxed examples. As an option, quality tobacconists and pipesellers offered a custom waxed finish, a labour intensive preservative and enhancement feature. This one has the typical lightly waxed rim of the bowl as contrast. The detail is superb as you can see. It comes with the original green silk and plush lined hinged leather wrapped case. It is in very good condition with no cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than wear to the leather finish on the case and a small loss to the rim of the bowl. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. A set of six (6) silver plated spoons by Christofle (France). They appear to be a variant of unknown usage of dessert spoons - they measure 6 3/8" in length. The pattern looks like Fidelio, but I have not seen this spoon in Fidelio before. They are in perfect condition - they were given as a gift quite a few years back and were never used, just polished occasionally. Unfortunately, I have no idea what they are, but I would be happy to add it to the description if anyone would care to email. There are no initials or inscriptions on the spoons, but there is an interesting fire-breathing dragon engraved on the back of the spoons. Surface shipping is $8 to the US (other spots may vary) - insured is higher. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $USD.

A scarce 4-1/4" vintage late 1930s-mid 1940s Mary Grayo stoppered glass fur perfume bottle with the original label. This company was in business in Monte Carlo for a very short time, from the late 1930s to the mid-1940s. The label has losses but the Mary Grayo name is mostly quite legible; the bottle is molded with a 45 on the bottom. It has remnants of the original perfume, which must have smelled wonderful in its day. Mary Grayo perfumes seem in most cases to be designed to be worn when wearing a fur coat, to prevent the natural scent of fur coats from being obvious - many of the perfumes they produced refer to specific types of fur (silver fox, beaver, etc.). This is the first Mary Grayo perfume bottle we have owned, previously only have seen the company advertising. This bottle is in fair condition with no chips, cracks, damage or repairs other than the losses, split and fading to the label and the loss of the dabbing rod on the stopper. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Expedited tracked insured shipping to the U.S. starts at $20 (other spots may vary, air is higher) - tracking and insurance are included in shipping quotes. This bottle is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, damage or repairs other than the loss of the stopper (which you can replace with a cork) and a slight touch of wear to the silver plate showing a bit of brass. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use as would be expected.
