A lovely Arts and Crafts period 830 silver high relief rose Skønvirke brooch circa 1900. This antique 2-1/8" x 1-5/8" pin has a long c-clasp and it is marked simply 830. It is quite likely this piece is Scandinavian, it is entirely consistent with early Skønvirke ("beautiful work") made popular by fine Scandinavian silver makers. It greatly resembles early Bernard Hertz work, but is not signed, other than the 830 silver mark. It is typically repousse with a solid flat back, for stability, and it weighs 15.6 grams. A great addition to any floral or roses or Skønvirke jewellery collection. A unique rose fancier gift idea - the appeal of this Edwardian period beauty is timeless. It is in excellent original condition with no scrapes, dents, monograms, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. It has been very lightly hand polished, retaining the original patina.
