An attractive mid-Victorian mourning brooch c1860-80. It is a pressed horn with a dark resinous/lacquer finish to resemble jet or bog oak (which was a semi-petrified and preserved wood from the marshy bogs of Ireland, less common even in the 19th century, so also imitated). This 1-5/8" x 1" pin features a high relief flower spray; it has the original brass c-clasp. This piece of mourning jewelry is in excellent original condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs except a small edge flake. The brass c-clasp loop is a bit out of whack but is easily straightened. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted. An E A Bliss gold plated buckle design sash brooch circa 1895. This hand engraved pin measures 3-1/8" x 1-5/8" and has the original c-clasp. It has the company mark of the EA Bliss company of New York (est. 1875). This company later became Napier. Sash pins were quite popular at the end of the Victorian era, with some fine Art Nouveau designs also. A large splendid mid-19th century 14K hand made brooch with a central large claw-set genuine pearl. This 2-3/8" x 1-3/4" brooch has very finely hand engraved and stippled leaves with superb detail with a fine 7.2 mm pearl in the center. The pin is a c-clasp and the pearl setting is mounted with a hand cut nut and bolt; the pin weighs an impressive 14.4 grams (1/2 ounce) of 14k gold; it is not marked but has been tested and is guaranteed to be 14K. A Victorian 10k yellow gold ring featuring genuine blue iolites and natural seed pearls circa 1880s. The iolites are a deep royal blue gem stone in round antique cut. Burmese sapphires were expensive and often difficult to obtain in the late 19thC, so good quality iolites were sometimes used - these stones are original to the ring, not replacements. The flower circle design stayed popular into the Edwardian period, although Edwardian examples were usually simpler with less gem stones. The top of this size 4 antique ring measures 1/2" across, it weighs 2.3 grams, and it is stamped 10K with an arrow maker's mark. The iolites are reasonably well colour matched and in good condition, but one stone is deeper in color. The halogens threw off the colour of one in the pictures. This item is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs, but please note that a couple of the seed pearls are slightly darker in colour.
