An enamel 800 silver enamel snuffbox or snuff box depicting the German resort city of Bad Ems. It measures 1-15/16" x 1-3/8". The lid is slightly convex and it is just under 5/8" deep/tall. The top of the hinged oval box features a completely hand enameled aerial scenic view of the city. It takes a enamelist of some training and skill, as not only must they be able to depict the view properly in enamel, but know how the enamel reacts when it is fired, as the colors change. The enamel is fine quality, and was done by hand. It is stamped either KFK or KEK, and 800. I have seen that mark on a few enamel souvenir spoons and a ring, I believe it dates to possibly around 1900 to 1920. It weighs 26.7 grams, the interior is gilded, and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. Please note that the colors are more true and correct in the second picture. It is stamped with the Howard Sterling Co. mark (Providence, Rhode Island 1878-1902) and the BARTENS & RICE retailer's mark (1875-1909). A Gorham sterling silver miniature chamber stick or candle holder dated 1891. This Victorian era ornate chamberstick stands 1-5/8" high and it measures 3-3/8" across the base. It is stamped with the lion/anchor/G mark, along with STERLING 181 and the year cypher for 1891. Although a dainty size, these small candle holders sat on a writing deak or in a travel writing desk, as they had the practical use of melting sealing wax for an envelope or document. A Garrard of London sterling silver gravy sauce boat dated 1972. It is fully hallmarked for London, England with a date mark for 1972. It measures just under 6" in length, and is 2-7/8" in width, with a greatest height of 3-1/4" (handle). This elegant boat has three hoof-shaped feet. It has the maker's mark G&Co Ld for Garrard and it is stamped GARRARD & Co Ltd 112 REGENT STREET LONDON W on the bottom. Garrard & Company is one of the most, if not the most prestigious goldmith and jeweller in the UK, and was until recently the Crown jeweller. A fine vintage Art Deco style 6-3/4" step sided .800 silver wine slide or coaster. This item was used to slide bottles of wine along the table (most had wood bottoms with felt or fabric). This one is stamped A800 with an A (bee or figure) C maker's mark. This mark was used in Belgium on silver articles after 1942, we have been unable to identify the maker as yet.
