A scarce deep navy blue bakelite two piece brass mounted leaf-form belt buckle c1920s-30s. This buckle consists of two 1-7/8" x 1-5/8" dark blue bakelite segments, both deeply carved with a star and wavy border. Navy blue bakelite is possibly one of the least commonly seen colours in single coloured period bakelite items. Each has brass mounts, and this unsigned buckle is in very good original condition with no chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some surface corrosion on the brass tongue on one segment. A silver marcasites chariot & goats shell cameo pin brooch from 1900 1920. This unusual and beautiful vintage .800 silver filigree mounted shell cameo brooch has a barrel or trombone clasp, the setting is stamped with two marks that are difficult to make out as well as ITALY 800, and the hand carved shell cameo depicts a winged putto or angel figure in a chariot being pulled by two rearing goats (as they are wont to do...). The carving is fine and detailed and undoubtedly the work of a talented artisan, although, as is often the case, there is no signature on the back. The marcasites shine brightly and this 1-1/2" x 1-3/4" cameo is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, wear, repairs or damage.
