A 19thC W.R. Loftus, London bronze cup measure. This late 19thC hand-made 2-1/4" bronze measuring cup was made by W.R. Loftus of 146 & 320 Oxford St., London, England. In business from c1860-1940, this company made pewter, beer machinery, bar fittings and also scientific equipment. This tapered cup has a ringed design and it is stamped LOFTUS LONDON 3. It has a brass soldered seam and bottom insert, and it is in excellent original condition with no dents, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some minor patina from use and some minor bending of the upper rim. This furniture maker's tool measures 18" long, including the 7-1/2" faceted massive wood handle with brass ferrule and an incised N initial on the handle. The hexagonal 1/2" wide blade is firmly mounted, and this vintage tool has a wonderful patina. An interesting antique silver plated pinioned-lid stamp box c1880-1890. This 2-5/8" x 1-1/2" unsigned box features a floral corner applique and two applied butterflies on the top, a pin stop and corner swinging pivot. The interior has remnants of what appears to be adhesive from some missing material and it has two cutout felt pieces; it would make a nice tiny jewel box also. A Sheffield plate helmet style cream jug circa 1780-1800. This 5" high genuine cream pitcher predates electroplating and it consists of thin layers of silver laid on to copper sheets; the sandwich of metals is then formed into the desired object. This unsigned creamer is in good original condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, damage or repairs; it has the expected areas of copper blush from polishing over the last couple of centuries.
