A Victorian 10k yellow gold ring featuring genuine blue iolites and natural seed pearls circa 1880s. The iolites are a deep royal blue gem stone in round antique cut. Burmese sapphires were expensive and often difficult to obtain in the late 19thC, so good quality iolites were sometimes used - these stones are original to the ring, not replacements. The flower circle design stayed popular into the Edwardian period, although Edwardian examples were usually simpler with less gem stones. The top of this size 4 antique ring measures 1/2" across, it weighs 2.3 grams, and it is stamped 10K with an arrow maker's mark. The iolites are reasonably well colour matched and in good condition, but one stone is deeper in color. The halogens threw off the colour of one in the pictures. This item is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs, but please note that a couple of the seed pearls are slightly darker in colour. A Gorham sterling silver miniature chamber stick or candle holder dated 1891. This Victorian era ornate chamberstick stands 1-5/8" high and it measures 3-3/8" across the base. It is stamped with the lion/anchor/G mark, along with STERLING 181 and the year cypher for 1891. Although a dainty size, these small candle holders sat on a writing deak or in a travel writing desk, as they had the practical use of melting sealing wax for an envelope or document.
